1. Increase heating area: The fins are ingeniously designed to augment the surface area surrounding the tube. This allows the smoke passing between the fins to transfer heat to the medium inside the tube—often steam—much more effectively. Such a design substantially boosts the heat transfer capacity per unit volume.
2. Improve heat transfer efficiency: The amplified heating area is directly associated with a superior heat transfer coefficient. This means the heat transfer process becomes notably quicker and more efficient, playing a pivotal role in ensuring optimal boiler efficiency and precise steam temperature management.
3. Diverse structural forms: These fins are available in versatile structural designs. They can be spiral, encircling the steel pipe continuously, and are securely fixed through high-frequency welding, ensuring durability and resistance to detachment. Alternatively, they may be fashioned as separate circular sheets, which, although subjected to individual force, might minimize dust accumulation and dead corners in certain applications.
4. Membrane wall application: In structures where water-cooled walls are present, the use of finned tubes is referred to as 'membrane wall' application. This not only expands the heating surface but also enhances sealing performance, curtailing boiler air leakage and elevating overall thermal efficiency.
